Bongo Fury

Anyone tried this products supposted to be used on rust. Bonds to surface setting like epoxy resisin - becoming completely bonded to and non-permiable (unlike undercoats) and can then be painted over.

I have tried this product and, in my opinion, it's the absolute business. We have used it on our work vans (which work very hard in a semi-wet environment) and it's still holding up three years later.

Obviously, no product can be a true miracle worker (whatever bull they may spout on the label!). You need to give it a fair crack, i.e. sand back any rust to bare metal as best you can and try to clean the metal (using POR products or whatever else effective you have to hand) before applying the POR 15. We used two coats as well, allowing a day or so to dry properly (weather dependent).

The product dries VERY hard which is great but the downside is that it won't keep for long once you've broken the seal on the tin. For this reason I buy small tins as, despite using clingfilm and the like to try and make an air-tight seal, I can never get the product to last more than a few weeks. Putting it in the fridge helps it last longer, I find, but it may put a slight strain on your marriage!

2nd that, used it on my car and it has done very well indeed. Frost automotive are a good supplier and do a starter kit, well worthwhile imho. You get marine clean, which cleans the metal, metal ready which kills and adds zinc, and then the paint. All in small containers. BTW a little does go a long way.

I used a dremel to completely remove any rust before I started but so far it's held up a treat and the silver is quite a good match !!

Excellent find this and I've noted it for future use - thanks+++ on behalf of my just starting to blister a bit wheel arches....and me.

UPDATE

think i'll be using eastwoods rust encapulator - a similar product but less fidly,CHEAPER, and the product does not go off like to the por stuff which can mean wastage
