Running Hot

My Bongo seems to be running a bit hotter than usual at the moment. Normally on the TM2 it will get into the 90s on a good run, but at the moment it seems to be hitting 95 degrees c quite quickly even on a short run.
Today I was doing my usual oil/water checks and had left the engine running for about 30 minutes while stationary from cold. Under no load it gets to about 85 degrees and stays there, the bottom hose is warm to the touch at this point (thought I would mention it as it is a hot topic at the moment seemingly!). I then took it for a gentle drive around the block, lasting literally two minutes, and it went to 95 degrees quite quickly.
Am I being neurotic? I have it in my mind that if it was very healthy it would run in the mid 80s.
What would be a systematic way to check everything is as it should be?
Many thanks
