Speedo Chip.

The speedo in my bongo has been chipped to read MPH. Whilst this is fine, it does of course mean that my speedo only has the one scale now being MPH. If I drive on the continent which I intend to, I've been lead to believe that if stopped by the police I could be in trouble not having a speedo that also reads in KPH.

SO, do I remove the chip? And where do I find it to remove it? Once removed so I'm back to KPH can I get a speedo dial that has both scales on it, and where from.

Or do I leave the speedo chipped and can I get a dial that reads MPH as its primary numerals and has KPH as secondary ones.

Any one out there had to do similar?

Cheers

the issue with switchable/removing chip is if the odometer has been converted to miles, in that your vehicle will show lot less km's than its done! it is possible to replace the standard face with a dual face, readily available on Ebay etc for a few pounds, but again the odometer will read in kms not miles, the chip is usually located behind the dashboard, but i've seen some companies fit them on the gearbox

Cheers for the response.

You mentioned switchable? hadn't thought of that, and the possibility of making it switchable would be a way to solve the problem. With regards to the mileage recorded I'm unsure how you stand legally. My vehicles now clocking in miles & you try explaining to interested parties although the odometer reads 82000 miles that the first 74000 was actually in Kilometers.

I will have to remove the instrument cluster and investigate
