How to repair large tear in Roof tent fley net?

A sorry tale.
We had a small tear in the fly net. Thought, "must fix that before it gets bigger". Tried to sew it up. Which failed miserably, and made a much larger rip when we put the roof up next time (stitching perhaps overstretched mesh?).
Anyway: we now have a large, cross-shaped tear: approx 2-3 feet wide and 1-2 feet high.
Very grateful for any suggestions on how to fix. Currently held together with gaffa tape which, while functional, isn't the most visually attractive. I'm thinking it's too large to fix with any kind of tape/"wondaweb" type thing.
Thinking/hoping it's possible to get hold of new mesh and stick into seams, so basically replacing whole panel? Or any other suggestions?
Looking to get Bella (our Bongo) back into tip-top shape ahead of the camping season!
Thanks for any suggestions.
