New shape Bongo coolant leak.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site - so sorry if this has been posted before.

I have a new shape Bongo (2000 model - 2.5 TD Automatic AFT) which we bought 2 years ago.

Since the really cold spell at the end of last year there seems to be a leak from the radiator and coolant tank. My father in law is having a look at this for us - but we have a couple of questions due to the lack of a workshop manual...

What is the capacity of the cooling system?

If removing the radiator - Is there any connection between the radiator cooling system and the AirCon?

Thanks - and if anyone has other handy hints around this area - or had a coolant leak and can pass on any advice I'd really appreciate it.

Looking forward to getting the bongo back on the road in time for the better weather!!!

Check out Blingo's videos on You Tube for demonstrations on how to bleed the cooling system, all three of them.

hi and welcome.
put on your location, someone nearby may help you.

if you suspect a leak, please dont take the chance and run the engine, best to do a pressure test to establish if/where its leaking, then take it from there.

Capacity is, I think, 13 litres.
No connection between aircon and coolant radiators.

If you change the radiator yourself, have a couple of pens or pencils handy to plug up the transmission cooler lines at the bottom of the radiator when you disconnect it: the A/C is not connected to the rad, but the transmission is.
