not sure what these are?

Hi all,
In an idle moment (waiting for my Vohringer ply to arrive!) I started piggling off a sort of sectional Japanese tax disc on the screen, then I noticed it was surrounded by a fine wire that went up to the edge of the screen and under the trim.....more looking and the same thing happens around the rear view mirror mounting... I decided it was 'something' as where the lines disappear into the trim there is a little moulding to accept them......what is this??

I've got those as well

They are antennas, part of the original SatNav / TV/ radio set up - mine goes to a receiver box on the floor under the central section of the dash although the fitting instructions that were left for it shows it under the drivers seat.

Not much use but I still haven't taken them off.

Regrads Grahame

Thanks for replies,
Grahame, yep I have the satnav/tv/cd/tape/radio set up....I'm just trying to figure out how to remove it!.... useful to know that there is an additional box underdash, any more info would be great.
I wonder if those antennae (there are three on mine, one behind the mirror, one rectangular one, and one circular one) could be re-used for a radio instead of the ariel (mine's broken)??? :D

You could try them for aerial use them as the inner core and use the body of the car as the outer on a standard aerial connector.. may work but might be a bit directional.

I think they are to pickup the roadside becons in Japan to pickup traffic updates..
