i'm hoping that oil around this area is common and nothing to worry about with a diesel turbo engine of this age?

Mine doesn't leak there (1996 2.5 TD) Might just need the rocker cover tightening.
I thought you were going to post a photo of the EGR gunk on the driver's side front of the engine  - that is normal 8)

Hi
Sounds like a good idea...don't forget when you rinse the Jizer off to cover all the electriceral  bits with a placky bag!

Looks fairly typical to me - gunk it and see if it comes back. I (gently!) tightened the rocker cover bolts in the area that appeared to be weeping a bit, and the problem stopped. That was 4+ years ago. 8)

could be a sign that diesel is mixing with oil in the engine - it makes the oil seem much thinner and since the viscosity is much lower it can be pushed out the sides when warmer. one of the experts will know why this happens and what to do about it.

it will ,just nip up the bolts not too much but its the little washers under the nuts that let the oil out a bit .
