Heating - Modes

Hi

this isn't the easiest to explain......so please bear with me ;)

Background - new radiator installed (looked like previous owners had used RadWeld or similar :^o [-X ), system flushed, refilled, blead properly.

In the rear, the heating is working as it should - variable temperature at each "mode". However out of the front I'm a bit stumped - when the mode is straight on, single arrow, the temperature of the air doesn't vary much (possibly slightly hotter out of the side vents?) until you change the temperature up to 30/31 and then you get the hot air you'd expect. In any other mode we get variable temperature hot air, including when the mode is pointing to your feet and straight out.

Anyone any idea why this mode would not provide variable temp air?

Does something "extra" happen when you dial the temperature up above 30?

Cheers

yep you are right,

on mine when the air is coming straight out the front vents it's just warm through the scale up to 31 then at 32 you can hear a sudden change in the air flow and it sounds as though the air flow flap moves to a last stage that takes all of the air through the heater matrix with no mixing so gets very hot fast, but i have no idea why there is a need to have the sudden change

i tried the other modes such as windscreen/down and you can feel the temp change as you raise it through the digits.

i wouldnt worry about it being anything to do with your radiator or heater matrix though, i would say it's just normal. :D
