Bongo Fury

After two trouble free years everything seems to be happening at once!

Just had new waterpump fitted to solve coolant leak and now have vehicle in for planned bodywork.

Had call today from bodyshop asking me to view before they started. Worse than I thought and slightly worried that this could be the start of emptying of wallet. Initially wanted them to sort out arches which is still on the cards but they have noted spots of rust on insides of cills. Nothing too dramatic on a bus of 13 years but probably needs addressing before MOT in May. However, more obvious rust on rear cross member above exhaust. Seems a common problem. Is this an MOT issue and is there an easy fix? Not had bumper off yet but have noted others seem to get problem along rear cill around boot catch.

Also noted small hole in centre rear exhaust box just beyond flexy section. Anyone know best price/supplier?

Having been off road for two weeks already really missing the old girl and worried this may go on for longer! Easter hols on their way. Driving an astra is not the same - nobody bothers to wave!

I can't offer answers, but do feel for your plight, bad luck mate.

I think these things can sound scarier than they are - might not be too tricky or costly to fix (I had a cill patch done at Wheelquick - v. solid job and cost about £50). Its perhaps to be expected on ageing Bongos. A key issue might be if it has been properly waxoyled so that - hopefully - corrosion might not have spread around too far.

Whereabouts are you as there are some good Bongo specialists who could probably give a good prognosis.
