Whining sound when accelerating

The Bongo seems to have developed a high whining sound when I accelerate, and it is more or less constant and does not matter how many revs, it is just there and changes witht the general sound of the engine accelerating (sorry - it is difficult to describe!).
At first it was only noticible if the air-con was on, turning off the aircon stopped it but now it is there all the time.
It is not there when the engine is idle, only when accelerating.
Can anyone offer any pointers?
Thanks :D

slipping belts on a/c or water pump

or no 1 stud on manifold often snaps and manifold warps and leaks

people describe that as a whistle

I'd check the No. 1 manifold stud.

This is my post when mine went:

Hope that helps.

You haven't got the Mother-in-Law in the Bongo perchance? :)

if its non of the said likely suggestions could be your turbo, check all the pipes going to and from as one may have split on loose, if all look good could be the turbo on its way out
