Drivers side window switch

I have scoured the forum section for information on dodgy connections to the electric window switches and found some great tips. Loads of mentions were made of the little ball bearing and spring that pop out of the drivers side door switch when you try and separate the white and black sections from one another, but there doesn't seem to be any detail about where these go when you reassembly the unit. I know that they are for the smooth operation of the master rocker switch but there is no obvious position for them when you reassemble the unit. Can anyone please tell me where they go. Many thanks. Charlie

the little spring that you lost #-o goes into the hole in the side of the white plunger, the ballbearing that you now have to find sits on the end of the spring, compress the 2 then insert the white plunger so that the silver contacts mate face to face, the ballbearing engages into a receiver to hold the plunger in position either up or down(on or off).
clean the contacts first.
bet you loose the bits  .

tip.
take a torch and all the parts and climb naked into a plastic refuse sack, get the wife to tape up the top, this way you may not loose any little bits. 8)

oh and welcome to the madhouse

I would like to point out for the 'hard of thinking' that in no way is this technique endorsed by the Forum, and may result in death or unseemly moments!

However, at least the ball bearing and spring wont be lost! =D>

Thanks for the replies, especially the bit about sitting in a bin bag. You tube clip in the making, methinks.

I've done this job (with complete success, though I did cannibalise another old switch to mix and match parts).

I anticipated the trouble above and so did all the dismantling and assembling work inside a container (a bucket I think but can't remember now), and was very glad I did - worked a treat and saved many lost bbs/springs etc. 8)
