Is the hold light flashing? If not check your fuses as well - no power to the ECU = no shifts & no hold light flashing & g/box stuck in 3rd. What gear do you think you are stuck in, 1st or 3rd?

I think it's stuck in 3rd as far as i can tell

Is ecu for engine and box?

Nope, separate ECU's. Is the hold light flashing, if not you have probably lost power to the ECU.

Alacrity is it the one in passenger side footwell.
Thanks for your help.

I am not sure but we think it may be behind the glove box. Have you checked all the fuses? They are the most common reason for this fault.

In the Wiring Manuals for the diesel, there is only one box the PCM which appears to handle both the engine and gear box, the V6 is different as they are separate boards PCM and TCM but are still all mounted in the same place. In all cases there behind the glove box on the passenger side.
See the B2-01 connector;

yes have checked fuses all ok so going to try and borrow another ecu today. Would the ecu have been spiked if the person i bought it from had jump started it as when i first looked at bongo battery was flat ?
thanks
Simon.

Possible in theory, but in reality they are normally pretty robust.

Geoff, I have to confess I was unaware it was only the one ECU, quite unusual, I was only aware of Ford & Toyota having a 'powertrain' ECU.

A good tip, when jump starting any modern vehicle. When the 'dead vehicle has started DO NOT disconnect the jump leads from the donor car until you have turned ALL the electrics on full in the 'dead' vehicle. Headlights on full, fan on full, heated rear screen on etc. etc. Then you can disconnect the jump leads as the alternator voltage spike will be absorbed by the electrical accessories that are running & this should prevent damage should a component be a little fragile. You can then turn the everything off one by one.

I'm only going by the diagrams, rather than personal knowledge so ....! But the V6 diagrams clearly show two boxes, the TCM mounted on top of the PCM and that I can varify as factual!

Don't get me wrong Geoff, I am not questioning what you say, just didn't realise that was the case, I have never had much cause to investigate the Bongo that much.

No, no problem , its just that occasionally how things look on a circuit diagram might not be how its implemented physically :roll: So I tend not to comment unless I know for certain on these matters :shock:
