Looking forward to joining the Bongo club :)

Any time you want to pop round to Bongo Towers for a chat, just let us know. We are just off Abbeydale Road, near the old picture house :D

Anyone near Skipton? It's N. Yorkshire, but you all seem miles away. I have a post "might buy one" and I'm looking for advice from someone nearby who can tell me about dealers, servicing etc.

Have a read of 'Buying' on the main site:

https://igmaynard.co.uk/buying/

The 2 ltr petrol is fairly simple, the main thing with the 2.5 ltrs is the need to bleed the cooling system if the level drops below the header tank. Not an issue as long as you know that.

Bongo Spares, Sowerby Bridge, aren't too far from you and are well thought of, they service and repair as well as supplying parts. 8)

If you can wait until late March, why not pop along to our meeting in Dent at the High Laning campsite over the weekend of 23rd March.

The wrong side of the hill those of us on the right side would say  , but with your Bongo knowledge it would be worth Rcflyer risking leaving God's own county for a quick visit to pick your brain and have a good look around your Bongo. Might not even need a translator seeing as you are so close to the border

Thanks, all who responded - I will get in touch when I've finished rearranging this house I've moved to in Skipton! Knee-deep in DIY as the moment, but in my resting moments, researching this excellent forum and I appreciate the help. Think I will go for the newest unconverted 2l petrol I can find at an affordable price. Want one just for touring this beautiful area, stopping at Nat. Trust houses for picnics, and preferably with a tow-bar for trips to the tip with my small trailer. Tell me, though, does the auto-box have an overdrive? Can't find a mention of it on the forum- not looking in the right place, probably, but my late lamented Elgrand had one.

Not exactly an overdrive, but it locks at about 45mph for efficency. :)
