If you get a click but no turning over then its the contacts and the kits work I fitted one and never had a problem after wards

Just make sure yours is not one of the 2 starter battery 'winter pack' Bongos form N Japan, as it used to be the case that the repair kits are only suitable for the standard starter motor, not the heavy duty ones fitted to the twin batter Bongos.
I wonder how Moonshine (Colin) is getting on as it was he who, long ago, blazed the trail of discovery over this cheap fix for starter motors. Does anyone ever hear from him, since his Bongo got stolen?

Fond memories, and it was he (and Dabs) who, as much as anyone, persuaded me that getting a Bongo was a viable proposition.
Oh dear, I'm getting all nostalgic now

Perhaps you've fixed this already, but do check what kind of starter you have before ordering the kit. This weekend past, just 5 weeks after sale, my starter started clicking. I was hasty and ordered the contact kit from eBay before discovering that I have the heavy duty starter which can't be repaired.
Luckily, though, I took out warranty when I bought the vehicle and should be getting mine replaced next week. Fingers crossed the claim gets processed without issue...

Or (for others to note) you could fit any starter motor bought from a scrappie (and refurbished if need be using the repair kit) as I believe the only reason for the hd starter motor was the harsh climatic conditions in N. Japan - about which I could crack a tasteless joke, but I won't). Either motor type should fit all Bongos (someone correct me quickly please if I'm wrong on this)
