Fuel gauge problems....and Horn???

Hi,
I was hoping to get some advice as to where to start fault finding.

I noticed about a week ago that the horn wasn't working. It made a pathetic 'whimper' and nothing since then.
Then today, on the way into town, I noticed the fuel gauge reading was 1/4 full. When I came back to the van I was surprised to see it was reading 'empty'. Tried to fill it up at garage but was full after only 25ltrs. On the way back it started to read 1/2 full but gave up after a few mins and has returned to reading empty again. :?

I am not sure if the 2 incidences (horn and fuel gauge) are connected.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks

ps. forgot to mention that the steering wheel is wooden ( a replacement at sometime).

Fuel gauge is more than likely a shattered Earth dream lol.

As luck would have it, whilst investigating this http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=47484, I found somebody had already put an 'extra' wire in. One new self tapper, and a clean of the eye, all was well with the fuel world.

Horn wise, I don't think ours is that powerful either. On saying that, it's not like it's some 6v old moped beep either.

*edit*

Forgot to say, the wire has been out in to save the hassle of moving out the insides to get to the top of the fuel tank.

thanks,

I have had a look under van but can't see any connection to fuel tank as in pic.

A quick solution for the Fuel Tank Earth issue......is to raise the rear on ramps or stands....
Locate the fuel tank and you will see a wide lip at the rear of the tank.....drill a 3mm hole in the lip (not the tank) about 1/2 distance from the edge....then get some wire.... ring connector one end to be large enough for a self tapping screw to screw into the hole just made.....
Undo the 14mm Fuel tank strap bolt....enough to fit an open surface connector (basically an open ended ring) - You then (either do as I did and remove bolt clean and grease up) or make up the cable to fit between the Hole and the bolt and enough to be able to neatly clip it into a cut out in the lip of the tank....then Underseal or spray waxoyl/paint over the bolt and screw....sorted..

Thanks very much for all the advice...lots to work on and see which works. I noticed it has started working again now...not sure for how long though.
