Delaminating Goodyear GT2 Tyres!

Hi All,
As recomended on the tyres factsheet I fitted new Goodyear GT2's to our Bongo back in Aug 09, 195/70R15 97S on the front and 215/65R15 96T on the back.
Less than 2 years later the two back tyres have just failed their MOT due to 'delamination' as the tester explained it; there is a noticeable bulge on the inner wall of both tyres. He was of the opinion that the tyres should be of a commercial quality and that the Goodyears were 'probably' not up to the job of supporting the van. This seems to contradict the load rating advice given on the factsheet. Is he talking out of his ar#* or has our full camper conversion taken the van over it's weight limit for these tyres?
Anyone had a similar experience or have any thoughts?

I would say contact Goodyear and tell them see what they say as it could have been a bad batch witch they know about or need to know about
If the load rating is correct the tyres should last

Agree..... The load rating is paramount, contact the maker to see if there was a bad batch as if they are rating tyres at 96 then they should be fine for Bongo
I go for 100 + rated tyres myself but that's me...

Thanks for the prompt replies guys.
Have been onto the garage that fitted them. They have agreed to send them off to Goodyear for analysis but, obviously, I'll need to fit and pay for a new set. Unfortunately they can't get hold of GT2's anymore; any recommendations for good quality 215's?

As an ex-tyre fitter (A while ago admittedly) the 2 worst manufacturers for delamination were Goodyear and Dunlop...never touched either of them since...the sidewalls on non-driven axles normally fail before the tread, but should last more than 2 years. As I believe the Bongo is a 2 ton vehicle, I fit commercial grade tyres

Do you have a note of the age code of the tyre,?
http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/pas ... e/age.aspx
it could be that the tyres were old, anything over about 5 years and the adhesives start to fail and delamination is much more likely.

The Germans seem to be very fastidious about UV deteriation of RV tyres, they cover theirs up when it's sunny. Unless they are moving, of course.
I had a boat trailer which ate a pair of tyres at three years when left in the sun. The sidewalls cracked and perished. I keep a coat of boot polish on them now. My neighbours think I'm nuts.
I think someone's mentioned tyres 'should' be junked at five years old. ?

We use Yokahama C Drive with 100 rating all round. found them to be very good both on handling and wear.
