Morning

There was once a vid on the members section on how to replace the blinds but I am unable to access it??

Does anyone have any ideas please as I want to replace the material?

There is a description in the members area which you should be able to access but you're correct, you can't access the video without the photobucket log in password.

It can be done a few ways from the long but easy to the quick and fiddly.

Basically, remove the upper trim panels. You will need (IIRC) to pop out the top of the lower trim panels to get them out.
Then you need to remove one end attachment on the roller, 2 very small screws. (Nearside rear it's the left-hand end, offside rear it's the right hand end)
The end cap will try to spin round to release the spring tension. Try to prevent it spinning.
The cap can now be pulled out, and unwound carefully - count the turns.
Once the spring tension is released, remove the nuts & bolts from either end of the bar through the bottom edge of the blind
Remove the 2 plastic clamps on the back of the bar, and remove the bar.
Now wind the blind up until it is all wrapped round the roller.
The roller can now be removed
Un-wrap the blind from the roller. It's held on with double sided tape

refitting is the reverse of removal!

You can make it easier, but longer, if you un-bolt the frames completely and work on them off the car.

I did manage to replace all mine with the conversion in place - the offside rear was very fiddly though!

My tip would be don't strip all the blinds at the same time, keep one intact for reference and then do that one last after you've retested the others and don't rush refitting the top plastics as they can be brittle and break (particularly the ones on the rear quarters)

I did mine a month or two ago and they actually looked like new after a trip to the washing machine!

Thanks for re-posting Dave... This is on my "to do" list also. I'll most probably tackle the job when i re-trim the panel uppers soon.

No probs - one thing that isn't clear re-reading it is that the end with the 2 screws pops out once it's unscrewed - there is a rod attached to the cap which goes down inside the roller. It comes out about 2" to allow you to easily un-wind the spring tension. On the way back in, as long as the tabs that the bottom rail was bolted to have not moved, then you just need to re-wind the cap the same number of turns you un-wound it on the way out, so the tension is the same.

If you don't wind on enough tension, then the blind goes slack when opening, and doesn't reel in well. If it's too tight, then the blinds are very slow to lower.

Yep agree with Dave,, this was the very 1st job i done to the Bongo 2 years ago, blackout blinds Dunelm jobbie,

I remember you posting that detail on your original thread Dave, thanks again for re-posting. I'd be out there now getting in a muddle if i had the material!

I'm waiting on a price from my mate who's a blind supplier (form an orderly queue with the jokes!) as I've had a few PMs looking for these. As long as he comes back with a reasonable cost I should be able to do a set of blackout blind cloths for users to fit themselves.
