I have the original mazda radio installed. I checked the aerial is connected and works by pulling it out and all reception is lost. I also check connectivity with a multimeter.

There is no AM reception just a constant hum.

Does the standard aerial work o.k in u.K?

If it's the original Japanese radio, then the FM band is offset from ours, so you won't get much - IIRC Radio 2 does transmit on a frequency that the Japanese sets receive.

Do a google / eBay search for "Japanese Band Expander", which will offset the received signal to allow the radio to tune to it.

Not sure about their AM frequencies though.

Having fitted two radios in Bongos/Fredas most certainly UK radios work great in a Bongo. You will need an adaptor to convert the Mazda wiring plugs to DIN style socket on euro radios but that is all. In the current Bongo we have an Aldi Tevion radio and we were able to buy the correct adaptor in the Portuguese equivalent of Halfords. Shouldn't take more than an hour
