Sliding door mechanism

Post by millerj1974 » Wed May 04, 2011 8:31 pm

I sent the Bongo in for some paintwork last week and since its been back the sliding door mechanism which electrically pulls the door back in after it slides shut keeps operating after the door is shut, I think the door might have been taken off and is not seated back on correctly.

In addition to this my fuel gauge has not been working for some time now but was working again after the Bongo came back from the spray shop but stopped again once the door problem started.

Does anyone have any ideas and is there some kind of connection between the door and fuel gauge?

Thanks Jaylee, it just seemed strange that the gauge started working after the spray job and stopped again when the door problem started.

From what i know about the fuel gauge thing... The sender is earthed to the tank, then the tank earthed to chassis... The sender earth can get corroded & re routed to the top of the tank, but its no good if the tank don't ground neither... loads of stuff on here about the subject! Here's one! http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... uge+sender

I have never had sliding door trouble neither... But, MAZABON's idea of cleaning the three sprung contact & the two static for the CL for that matter.. Plus the five door contacts is a good idea for a start.. The door may think its being opened & closed if the contacts are dirty?? Use a bit of fine wet & dry...

It is possible some dust from the prep work is to blame??? :-k
