Bongo Fury

Can anyone on here tell me what these fuses are for i.e. what items are they connected to. The van has an Imperial Moonfleet conversion but I guess the electrics are probably similar on all the Imperial conversions.



They are located on the front of the kitchen unit behind the drivers seat next to the consumer unit and the charger. There is also a separate 10A fuse on the end of the green and red wires that you can see disappearing off to the top right which I would like to know about.

I'm hoping someone has an Imperial conversion and actually has some documentation or something that tells them what's what.

i would switch everything on in the conversion then pull them one at time to see what stops working

also if you pull one and it all goes out, it may be the main feed fuse, if so just put it back in then and carry on with the others

Ditto...! But, i would turn off what stopped working before replacing the fuse...?

I was hoping that some knowledgeable person who has had their Imperial conversion longer than me would have already found this out and saved me the trouble of working it out for myself. I know that once I have worked it out I'll label them so that I'll know next time.

Have you tried a call to Imperial 01202 631500 ?

Left to right:

1) Forrard missile tube covers - hydraulic pump
2) Feed motor, bridge .50 cal mini-gun
3) Aft hydroplane (starboard)
4) Aft hydroplane (port)
5) No idea.
6) Vending machine, officers mess.

No, afraid not. I work as a colour-blind electrician for a large motorhome conversion company, fitting unlabled fuse panels to Bongos.

Is your other half a donkey called 'Eeyore' by any chance?

I am neither pale nor smelly, well not any more as it was over 10 years ago that I left the sundodgers!
I take it the OH is/was a target!

No she was a civilian on a tri-service base so she got quite familiar with the banter!

Back to original topic, I take it there are no proper/helpful answers for this, I have a moonfleet as well but sorry cant help as never really needed to know so not bothered finding out, but now that you have mentioned it, it is probably a good idea to find out what they are for.

I don't think Imperial will be able to answer you as they don't actually do the conversions themselves. A company called Autovan Services http://www.autovan.co.uk/ actually do the conversions.

Anyway, I couldn't wait so I have done as suggested and switched things on and then pulled fuses to see what's connected to what. the result is from left to right: -

1. 12V Socket (above mains socket in side of kitchen unit) 15A (Blue)
2. Lights (downlighters) 10A (Red)
3 Gas Ignition 7.5A (Brown)
4. Tap / Pump 10A (Red)
5. Tank / Battery gauges 5A (Tan)
6. Battery charger (off mains) 20A (Yellow)

Extra fuse above and to the right of other fuses = Fridge 10A (Red).

I also had a look at the split charge relay under the bonnet today too because it wasn't charging the leisure battery when driving and as I was trying to make adjustments to the relay it kept switching on and off repeatedly. The reason was the main feed from the positive side of the starter battery was only just making contact due to the fact that the installer had only crimped the plastic outer sheath onto the cable, the metal connector hadn't been crimped at all and just pulled out! I remade the connection properly and now I need to wait until tomorrow to see if it charges on the way to work.
