That pretty much depends on what (if at all) i have to pull out if i have a problem...
I'm running my Mason modded gauge at about here...
I'm getting a reading of 88 degrees on the digital read out... I read that the Mason modded temp pictured above should be meaning around 95...
That's roughly how it sits ticking over in traffic, it drops lower down hill & can climb half way again from the max on Widdowsons example when steep hill inclines & batting it...

Mine sits around the same mark also (1 o clock mark) but whilst driving up hill's or with a bit of load, but can see it drop to the 12 oclock mark when the stat open's or the (fans kick in) whilst normal driving or stationary, and then see it rise hard to the 2 o clock mark on the motorway pushing it hard in nice hot sunny weather, no idea what the temperature read's in degrees

I wouldn't point it at the exaust side.....(heat from exaust)
Point it at the top hose under the drivers seat where it exits the cylinder head

We are probably going to get into
lots of hot water with the temperature boffins but my mason modded gauge sits a bit lower than that and runs at 88 to 90 degs according to the TM2 which has it's sensor on the back of the head.

Not at all...

I've always had a theory about these modded gauges.. & why they might have been damped up in the first place!
