Bongo Fury

Can anyone help please??? I bought my 1995 auto diesel bongo a couple of months ago down in Lewes, East Sussex, privately. It has been kept down there and was serviced and cambelt changed a few weeks ago. It was driving fine then.It has been started up since but not driven until yesterday when it was driven up to Calne in Wiltshire where it is now being adapted, having hand controls fitted so that I can drive it.. For the whole of the journey of about 160 miles the hold light was flashing and it was stuck in third gear . Ive spoken to the adapters this morning..apparantly the hold light is no longer flashing. they will be taking the bongo out for a run when they have finished fitting the steering ring etc.. and will see if it is behaving or not. I'll be picking it up from them..and driving it for the first time!! Any feedback on this problem would be very helpful please, and can anyone suggest any bongo-experienced garages near Newbury or even near Calne/Chippenham??? Many thanks

discount trucks have a good name on here,not used them myself, but they are at newbury i think.
if you look at the top right of the page,look for the search tab, type in flashing hold light, lots of past threads will pop up.have a read it may help.

... or there is Bell Hill at Norton St Philip - about 20 miles from Calne.

Solenoid pack needs changing out, its your 3rd/4th gear solenoid, did 1 yesterday!!

Impossible to know without reading the code(s). No good just guessing, that is an expensive way to fix a gearbox
Yes it could be the solenoid pack, but a TPS fault is more common. However it could well be something else. Never guess.

Though I think they had some work done on it elsewhere and I think they mentioned Newbury - so probably Discount Trucks.
