"Starting Problems" factsheet - can you help?

I've just been reading the Starting Problems factsheet and it states the following:

"‘Turnip’ from Belper says: “we have had same type of problem, so we booked it into a highly recommended diesel specialist in Burton upon Trent. After the investigation, it was traced to a blown fuse link by the battery. Apparently all diesels have this as a type of safety mechanism. Once repaired it started first time, every time, without fail: it runs better, sounds better and doesn't smoke."

Can anyone be a bit more specific about the fuse link mentioned here and how I can check it?

Thanks

there's a 30 amp fusible link right by the battery, a few people have just replaced it with a 30 amp fuse. Comes up quite often do a search on "fusible and link". to check it, see if theres voltage on t'other side of it, or when disconnected check to see if it's open circuit or not with an ohmmeter.
