Bongo Fury

hi, I'm wondering if anyone could help us? We have a new shape 2000 year bongo and we're wondering how to adjust the level of the main headlights? Our bongo used to have lowered suspension before it was imported but is now at a normal level so our head lights tend to shine too far up the road usually into the eyes of on coming cars! I've had a look around under the bonnet but so far have failed to find anything.

do you not have the electric adjuster on the dash ?

Unfortunately not (just had a quick look to make sure!)... It's registered as a 1999 (t reg) model as well not a 2000, my mistake

interesting, i can only guess that either there should be a manual adjuster somewhere on the back of the headlight, no idea myself though as to what you need to be looking for on a bongo headlight, on other cars i have seen a stalk type adjuster sticking out.

or your bongo did have electric ones but the adjuster switch is missing and replaced with a blank for some reason ? if so the cables should still be there though, might be worth a look, if its any help my adjuster switch is on the right hand side of the steering wheel.

there are 2 dials each headlight they are adjusted by a phillips screwdriver in the center(if needed) to loosen then adjusting via the outer disk arrowed.

From memory, i THINK the "outside" screws adjust the height, the inner one's are for the left to right adjustment. I used a short 10mm socket on a baby ratchet. If you are adjusting "by eye" pull the bongo up level about ten feet from a wall or some other flat surface.... You are looking initially to drop the upper light cut off point by about an inch (rule of thumb) With your "drivers" side light a tad lower than the passenger side headlight

I fitted a fancy HID bulb upgrade kit to my bongo which meant much greater light output, which i compensated for by adjusting the headlights "down" a bit... I tweaked the height adjustment here and there "by eye" till oncoming traffic stopped flashing me!

The last time my dad had his headlights adjusted by his MOT test centre they charged him a tenner per light! (for a couple of turns on a screwdriver?)

Thanks for all your help, managed to sort it. It was the outer screws to alter the height, I've made a couple of adjustments - I'll see how I get on next time I'm driving at night. The screws are easy enough to adjust by hand so I'll apbe able to adjust on the go!

Seems to be the "norm" for the Cheap MOT firms (£35) like Kwik Fit etc........most normal priced MOT centres adjust them for nowt...as a matter of course and many will replace or allow to have bulbs replaced (labour free - you pay for the bulb of course) as well....

Belting stuff! You must have a grip like a vice! The screws were pretty tight on my lights! Any chance i can pop over the next time i can't get the lid off me pickles?
