Brand new to this forum. Novice at work! Can you help?

1) Have visually checked switch. No signs of breakage
2) Have visually checked loom wire through door - seems ok
3) Have tapped window motor
4) The on off switch engages and disenages the passenger side window

Also can anyone tell me what the black square plastic box is with a black wire leading off but not connected(ALARM?)

Also, one more thing, the horn doesn't work either, can hear a muffled sound coming from a black box below battery when bonnet is lifted.

Hopefully, I don't sound as thick as I am !! :-({|=

Remote central locking? Are there 4 other wires coming out of it....?? If there are about 7 it could be a window closure module...? Which could be the clue to yer window problem..?

I take it that means the loom from the door across the hinge to the body panel..? Where it Vee's & under the cowl into the body are favourite wire breakage points! (you can't always tell with the second one straight away.)

How thoroughly did you visually check the loom? still top suspect IMO, can be hard to spot breaks.

Re the horn, could be corroded connections if your getting a feeble noise, should be behind & below the drivers side headlamp, check the earth too, may need a new horn, not expensive. Could be the wiring with a break going into the bottom of the horn relay, not quite getting enough current through or only working spasmodically, again behind the drivers side headlight, bank of 4 I think. If it is the wiring it's tough to find, as it may show that you are getting voltage, but if the wires part corroded but not visibly broken, it'll be reduced voltage & mebe not enough to power the horn, this happened with Widdowson2008. Didn't find the fault til it parted company

Now i'm having a dizzy moment... #-o  Drivers door loom between the door & body you wont need to check if the passenger window works!

I'm thinking the "black box"...?? Is any kind of wiring loom coming out of it & tied in with the window loom in the actual drivers door??

my drivers window slowed up dramatically and then stopped. The passenger one was also fine. The rubber seal on driver's door top had slid down into the door a knat's, thus trapping window in place. Cleaned window and rubber seal then lubricated with a little washing up liquid and good as new. worth a try .

Don't panic!!

Where are you roughly based??

This may or may not help... Mine is off a 626... http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... dow+switch

You may need an 8 way one of these...? http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... category/7 (Though i think your switch might have 7 wires??)
