Hi all, the radiator has leaked from the top and the breakdown are on there way but I heard the system will need bleeding, is this true. If they radwell it will that be ok to drive. It's full of camping gear so quite heavy. Don't want to damage anything until I can get it fixed.

Yes it will need to bleed the system if you go for a temporary repair on the radiator. DO NOT use radwell or other such liquid fix - its will more than likely cause more problems (later on) than it will fix.

Feel free to use some "chemical metal" ( you know - the blu-tack like stuff that sets rock hard) to fix a split and then bleed the system but don't use a liquid fix. This is only a temporary measure, you need to get the rad changed.

It will certainly need a thorough bleed whether you stick some temp fixes in or not. Its unlikely that the recovery man will have the time or specialist knowledge to do it at the roadside. Bodging it can easily turn a £100 new radiator bill into a £1500 new head scenario.

Get it recovered, otherwise a whole nasty can of worms could be spilling out.
