Hi,
will a cracked reversing mirror be a problem for the MOT?

If you mean the one hanging over the tailgate window, I think the answer is a defo NO it will not affect the MOT

Any stories about how they get cracked?
Is there a pattern which might highlight cracking risk?

Who knows Frank..?!!
"Locker punched" by passing fools..?
Slight inherent glass fitting stress compounded by years of boot slamming...?
..Or my favourite.. the Judderman!!
The Kwickfit wheel aligners arch enemy number 1.

It happened on my last Bongo as well - both times it was late winter and I suspect the cold / frosty conditions as on both occasions it was cracked in the morning but not the evening before.

Frank
Mine cracked on a 200 yard drive from one end of a car park to the other in zero degrees on smooth flat ground at slow speed! Jagged crack from left to right... or from right to left depending on which way you look at it!

Ours cracked overnight during the really cold spell earlier in the year.

Hmmm... so the trend is implying that it's extreme cold that is killing some of them? I wonder why only SOME though?

Now i come to think of it... It was REALLY cold! So much so that i used the very rarely used REAR blowers... I wonder if some of that heat transferred and cracked my lens? But didn't crack the rear screen... Flip

that reversing mirror glass must be paper thin eh?

Depends how tight the mirror glass is fitted in the shell... Water/moisture gets in, freezes, expands, then crack!!!
Possibly after a power wash???
