Bongo Fury

Hi there i have a leak on me injector pump.The leak is coming from the under side of the pump.The 2 seals that i can get from the bongo shop is them the ones i require.I am going to have a bash at the job myself. .Hope its not to bad of a job.

There is a fact sheet in the members area that will point you in the right direction under the title "Diesel Fuel Injector Pump".
Good luck, its a bit of a fiddle if done in situ especially the rear seal, apparently.
When my seals went I had a look at it an thought sod it, not with my sausage fingers and dodgy back and got my local garage to do it, who if memory serves me well said somthing about undoing the pump to allow better access to the rear seal.
Perhaps one of the gurus on here can shed more light of the best way.

the seals that leak are held in with a plate at each side, they are just a crush fit O rings into a seat,the two plates are held to the body with two little bolts per plate,before you start to remove everything try just nipping up the bolts, this may cure the problem.

if you do remove the plates watch out for the position of the tiny shims at each end of the spring,
there are some good drawings on here somewhere on how its all layed out, if someone could post a link,but that doesnt show the shims so take care.

Check where the leak is definitely coming from before committing to changing those seals onthe sides. Oil will always appear to come from underneath but you may have an internal leak in which case it's a 'pump off' job. No point in graunching knuckles doing the side seals and then finding out that its got to come off ayway.

In an extremely lucky case it might only be the easy to get at seal. But life isn't usually like that!

Hi there thanks for all the advice.Had a good look yesterday,cleaned underside of pump started it up.There is a slight leak out of the engine side plate on the btm.I have ordered seals and going to do the job on sat if i can get my hands in.Should be ok if i can get at the bolts.Used to work down thwe mines so am used to small places .Wel we wil see .I will let you lot know how i get on.Thanks again .
