mysterious wires

In the process of narrowing down the problem I have with the fuel gauge not working. (I got no needle movement when shorting the earth on the sender unit) I have removed the dash to remove the dials to see anything obvious and next to the foglight switch behind a blank were these wires in a block, the ones on the left. Is this common,or unique to mine? Any ideas anyone?

Red & black? 4 wires to the white block?? Normal... Unused loom..! One connection should go live with the lights on, one goes to ground. For powering the back light on a fitted switch... I used mine as a feed for some auxiliary leds!
However it could be used with a switch to trigger a relay feed for external spots/fogs too. Handy!!
No idea why some importers don't pick up on this..?!!
Usually found to the right of the steering wheel column though...

erm thats wha its meant for, its factory fitted wiring if the the vehicle has spots, it activates one of the realys (if its there) on inside of NSF wing and turns on your low level fogs, its used by most importers as a pick up/power for the required rear fog

I got factory front fogs too.. My required rear fog was just tapped of the front fog loom off a switch, i replaced with a factory switch.
Oh, & gave the rear fog it's own fused relay power while i was at it...!
