Anyone know what this is? I found it hanging loose behind the fuel pump on my pre travel checks, thought something was disconnected... So pulled it out & took some snaps!

The 2 wire loom run up to this block connector above the pump..

I have put it here out the way for time being...

I think it's for the optional flux capacitor :-|

I would have thought the loom would have been longer & run to just behind the cab at the back??

It would also need about 1,210,000,000 watts of power...

It can't be some bypass for the "fly by wire" set up, can it??

I've no idea what it does but I can tell you where it's meant to be, rather than hanging loose!

Get a mirror and look in the area between the pump and a nearby vacuum device and you will find a slot fixed to the metalwork that the mistery device slides into (using the grooves just visible on its right hand flat side as viewed in the lower photo or the uderside as viewed in the top photo).

It falls out quite easily, possibly due to vibration. Refit it from the rear towards the front. Get it straight before pushing as forcing it could damage the fragile plastic.

My first thought was that it was some kind of knock sensor or similar and it needed to be in contact with something.

However it doesn't seem to affect the performance if it is hanging loose. Maybe it is just good practice to have it secured.

Love to know what it is for, though!

Nice one Frank! :D

After getting back home & reading your post, i found it...

Image

It does slide in quite loose.. No damage to the plastic slots on the unit. (What ever it is.?)

What i did do, so it wont come adrift again... [-o< (I recently had a pump seal leak done!!!)
Removing the air filter hose for a little elbow room..
Is fit it in reverse, fitting the unit first... (Front to back.)

Image

Then plugged in the loom... What a fiddle!

Image

The theory is... It will only rattle in one direction, fully slotted in,using the loom running in the opposite direction...?!!

Glad i...

Unfortunately it's not a flux capacitor..... it's a T.P.S.C.R or Throttle Position Sensor Compensation Resistor for short.
