My fridge is playing up.It will only start running when i switch my lights on inside. Then it runs for about 30 seconds and switches off and doesnt run again unless you switch the lights off and on again. We have moved the fridge dial through all its settings but it does it wherever.Any suggestions as to why, please

Low battery would be my guess, switching the lights on excites it briefly, then as soon as the compressor tries to kick in, drags the voltage below cut off.

Hi there
I have the same fridge and have still got the 'destructions' for it. These show that the fridge will cut out when the voltage drops to below 10.4
So if you're able to measure the battery voltage you'll be able to confirm missfixit's diagnosis

If the battery isn't low, then check all the connections to the fridge as you might be dropping some volts in the wiring or earth connection, include the fuses in that as well, the blades will sometimes get some corrosion on them.

When you check your battery voltage, make sure it is at the time when the fridge actually fires up and makes some nose. I've recently sorted my mate's bongo electrics and his fridge would do the same. The battery metered at around 12.6v, but once the fridge came on , it would plummet over a handfull of seconds down to 10v and below. It's a vitrifrico c42L with a danfoss compressor.
Turns out the battery was knackered. It showed the green dot on the checking window , and metered fine after a good charge (even my conditioning charger showed no problems) but it was still knackered. (The silly green dot thing only tells you the state of one cell I believe)

took the van to Dairsie and after checking the voltage and trying a new battery it turned out to be a wiring problem in the switch panel .All fixed now ,Thanks
