Personally, I prefer it on, it's quieter (inside & outside), it protects the engine & I reckon it directs the airflow across the engine a bit. Saying that I still haven't put the front section back on from last year

I'd leave it off until your positive you've solved your issues. Don't see the point in taking it on & off depending on the season, make a decision & stick with it

2 chains of thought on this one i think
1. leave it on as it improves the airflow by causing a tunneling effect, make it sound quieter and protects the underside
or
2. leave it off, its helps cooling, makes it easier to do engine work/fluid changes and spot leaks.
personally, i have been running option 2 with no adverse effects as that is how it was when i got it, although i do have one waiting to fit because the Bongo was designed to have an engine protector/belly pan for a reason.

Have I picked up the wrong stick here? Are we talking about the engine cover between the interior/cab and the engine, or the under pan?

PS - if the quilting on my cover had been as smart as the one in Ray's pic, I wouldn't have needed to carpet it

Yes Mike~~mine don't look bad really~~when i took it off (for some job or other) it was quite heavy with the years of thing's dripping on it etc;
I left it in the greenhouse (on end) for a week & you wouldn't believe the stuff that came out of it,i kept pulling a piece of wood down it to sqeeze more stuff out but the actual padding is quite good.
