in Germany with a flashing HOLD light!

Travelling in Germany and the dash board HOLD light has startted flashing. The first couple of times, we switched off and it went, but only to come back. All we can see on the Bongo Fury website is that it could be indicative of a faulty gearbox.

Does anyone have any other information? Can we continue to drive her?

Any thoughts advice much appreciated.

Are there any other symtoms? There is a factsheet in the members area on getting the code to tell you what it could be. Often it's the speedo conversion chip if you have one.

If it's the speedo chip causing the problem I think you will find the speedo itself will not be working whilst the HOLD is flashing........

Thanks Miss Fixit and Haydn

We rang our specialist mechanic in Bristol - Adam at ADS. He had us check all the fuses, but had never seen this regular flashing on a petrol 2.5ltr. We even took it to a friendly mechanic who took pity on my rubbish German and spoke in English. Having never seen a Bongo (poor man has never lived, despite having done 10 yeas as a Toyota F1 mechanic!), he asked if we had a manual!!!! Ha! Also unable to identify anything. Back on the phone to Adam who reckoned that since it changed gear fine we were not at risk of breaking the gear box (did not fancy the ££££ new gear box bill).

Anyway, we are safely back home and will take it into Adam to run some tests. All the fact sheets etc imply it is the speedo chip (never had that converted, so it is the original), but strangley the speedo is accurate.

Ho hum - just relieved to be home and not having to do battle with RAC vehicle insurance who want to let a German mechanic loose on such a specialist vehicle!!

You sure there wan't a chip fitted before you got it? The speedo won't be right unless it either has a chip or new dials. What top speed is your dial calibrated too?

try the TPS throttle position sensor it's a screw under drivers seat that alters the gear change, mine was too far to the left/anticlockwise and this was causing a misreading by the computer

do a search and there are pictures and probably my post
