Bongo Fury

Hi all,

I have a diesel Bongo 96 reg.

I noticed that the fuel filter has been disconected and an inline filter put in its place.

Am I simplifying things to think that a filter is just a filter.....after all the inline filter has a mesh in it so it will stop any particles and therefore do the job??

Anyone else have this set up or any opinions from the experts?

The standard manufacturers fuel filter is a wee bit more than just a filter,it has a sediment/water trap and a warning system incorporated.

The proper filter unit has a moisture trap & sensor to indicate you have a build of of water in the bottom, as well as the ability to drain off the moisture. Presumably Mazda fitted this instead of a cheap in-line filter for a reason, so my recommendation would be to investigate why it has been bypassed & consider reconnecting it back up. If you find there is a fault with the filter assembly, I have a spare one available in exchange for some beer tokens

Hi all,
Thanks for the info and sorry for the delay in replying.
I think I will take the advice and look to connect the filter back on to the fuel lines. Wont drive to far though in case it conks out!!
