Bongo Fury

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of replacing my glowplugs which was going swimmingly until I reattached the bus bar and snapped the treaded part at the top of the rear plug (had to be the most awkward one!). There is still enough thread to screw it down but it means the bus bar is touching the fuel pipes. Is this a problem or do I have to order another one and replace it?

Any help much appreciated in advance.

Hi,you might be able to repair it using a Spark plug top and a set screw.Or cut a piece of the threaded part from an old plug.

Other members have said the rail (bus bar) and fuel pipe have touched when fitting the wrong length glowplugs, which has blown the fusible link. Several have got around it by gently bending/tapping the fuel pipe down a little, so it no longer touches. But obviously you can't bend it far, or you'd create another problem.

I very gently tapped the fuel pipes down, using a piece of wood. Obviously, it should be done very carefully

Where abouts are you located ? i have a couple of spare used but working glow plugs that i would donate to get you out of a fix but if your to far away then it'd be fruitless mission

Have managed to make it work by using a smaller nut to hold down the bar on the end one and then forced the bar away from touching anything. A right pain and much donation to the swear box!

Am I right in assuming that the big fat pipe behind the bar is the EGR? That's the next drama to sort out.
