So, where are you off to this year?

So, where are you off to this year?
Me, as usual (Is that good English??) and my family are going to the South of France for a change!!! OK, so we've only been going to the same Villa for the past 6 years. I used to sit and whinge about people who did that, I thought they had no imagination etc etc etc. But you do get comfortable about these things and we do so many different things when we get there.
Besides that, it is the perfect place for my disability, as it means it only takes me 2 minutes to walk into town for the bars, cafes, restaurants, museums etc. So therefore my wife and daughter can go off and do some shopping while I browse the museums and cafes in Aigues Mortes.

Nice one Nick, if you enjoy that area you go for it, whatever makes your family happy
Our travels this year, apart from Gigs/festivals and bongo meets
will see us touring Belgium in February, Wales in April, Derby in May
closer to home in June, holding partys in the deepest darkest New Forest
and then in August were going touring in France, but don't ask where!
I'm just going to go where ever the quieter back roads take me.
As for later in the year..... I'll just have to see how the money goes
Home is where you park it

June - Download Festival
August - Sziget Festival in Budapest(if I can arrange a few extra days off) then onwards to the Baltic, possibly on to St Petersburg. Plans still being finalised.
September - Loopallu Festival
And probably more besides, when I get round to it!

Dave - did you get to Cornwall last year as you were planning?dave_aber wrote:June - Download Festival

I see Sabbath are off the Download schedule even though they say they're committed to playing - I'd go to see them in the original lineup
Re: So, where are you off to this year?
Never got to Cornwall in the end. We did a tour of the borders, then popped over the border to York for a few days, then back to Edinburgh for a few days at the festival.
I hadn't heard Sabbath were off the list - the Download site still has them as headliners. Fingers crossed Tony Iommi is fit enough to play.

Yes their logo is still there but if you look at the schedule (to decide which would be the best single day to go) there's no mention of them

The only page I can find with the band times etc is the 2011 one.

Like yourself we go to France every year without fail as my family are there. However, this year we're going to do a trip to Slovenia via Austria and then through Italy and making our way back up through France Will have to make sure the bongo is in tip top condition
Oh and of course the Big Bash and other meets

That's what we did in 2010, but in reverse.umbongocat wrote:Slovenia via Austria and then through Italy and making our way back up through France)
I can recommend arriving in France via the D902 "Col d'Iseran" - stunning road, and the highest pass in Europe @ 2770m. France is (quite literally) all downhill from there on!

I'm sure there will be other adventures but my only plan so far this year is for July when I'll be picking up the Tour de France at Boulogne and combine cycling and spectating as I follow it down to the Alps. Will then leave the Tour to spend some time riding up some big mountains, then over to Mont Ventoux before making my way back towards Paris to catch the last couple of stages.

Limoges between Paris and Bordeaux to see our friends Hal n June, They took early retirement there bought the barn in the piccy and converted it into a totally stunning residence, we'll cruise down in loreal that way when we get there i can ferry us all about in the multi purpose Bongo, last time we were there was summer 2010 and it was a real low budget hol but the kids recon it was the best holiday they ever had
I also have various other trips planned some with just l'oreal some with the kayaks some with the caravan and some with all three

Limoges is a fab place too for kids. All around the Limousin La-Creuse area is beautiful too with plenty of lovely lakes to swim in. My family home is in La-Creuse and two years ago we saw a white bongo in Ahun, they didn't wave thoughM 80NGO wrote:Limoges between Paris and Bordeaux to see our friends Hal n June, They took early retirement there bought the barn in the piccy and converted it into a totally stunning residence, we'll cruise down in loreal that way when we get there i can ferry us all about in the multi purpose Bongo, last time we were there was summer 2010 and it was a real low budget hol but the kids recon it was the best holiday they ever had
