4WD Tyres on 16" Alloys

Hi All, after many month of saving, I picked up my new Bongo last week 8)

It seems though that the tyres are on their way out (all 4 came up as advisory on the MOT) Need to speak to the garage that sold me this as they had promised to sort anything out that came up on the advisory but haven't touched these.

But I want to get the ball rolling on tyre choice and would appreciate any advice from you seasoned owners

It has Alloys on it and Dunlop LeMans LM707 at the moment, the specs are 215 / 60 R16 all round.

I'd quite like something that is all weather but don't want to sacrifice the smooth ride too much - having driven a Hilux Surf for the last 5 years with AT's tyres on it, I'm loving the smooth ride on my Bongo

I've read recommendation for Accelerals and I have a friend that works in a tyre garage that's offering me some Jinyu Snow tyres at £80 each or some Yokohama GO35 @ £110 each - How do these sound?

Make sure you get the right load rating for the tyres

Will the garage pay out for your choice of tyres though .. ??

They would only need to put 'legal' .. even part worn .. tyres on and that would be the end of there 'expected' commitment ..!!

If you you have a 4x4 and the garage give you part worn tyres then make sure that the amount of wear is reasonably equal on all tyres or you are asking for trouble. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=53418

The garage have kindly offered me a donation towards some new tyres :)

Thanks for the link, read through that thread while researching the other day, bit techie for me but understand they should all between same.

Seems the yoko tyres are normally used on subura foresters so I assume they will be OK for the weight of the bongo but I'll look around at other options before deciding =D>

The load index of the tyres is the last number after the 215/60-16 and also include a letter. For use "all round" on a Bongo that number has to be at least 96.

I run 215/60-16s and all the ones I've ever fitted have been 99.
