I've used blue silicone hoses for over 3 years using conventional Jubilee clips and have never had any leaks or problems. If I had to replace a set again, I would probably go for genuine Mazda ones, but only as they are now much easier to get hold of.

Hi,
We have fitted hundreds of silicone hoses and jubilee clips, never had any problems with them,if they are fitted properly (clean surfaces)they should be OK.

Cheers..

I had blue silicon hoses fitted about 3 years ago, using jubilee clips the only major leak ive had was from a Mazda original hose with no clip.
If you can ,use the original Mazda clips that are on the bongo now.

Fitted a load myself, very good - for some you can re-use the constant claps for others you might need to use clips retighten when cold the jubilee clips to get the most tightness on your seal - flush radiator and change coolant while you are there

I only have a decent supply of the 30-52mm (top hose/bottom hose) Norma clamps left and a few odd smaller ones....Much as I would like to sell them all .. My advice.....don't fit them as Ady says above......I have had plenty of feedback from folks who have regretted fitting them......Why risk it when we know the "normal" hoses work ?? I could give you half a dozen well known members names who have gone back to "normal" black hoses.

Hi,

I think that if you have problems with Silicone hoses, contact the supplier with your complaint, people dont seem to do this for some reason.

Silicone hoses have a higher temperature and pressure rating that normal hoses, and they dont perish.

PS Always contact the supplier/manufacturer if you have any problems with their products, they use feedback to better the product.

Cheers..

You asked the question.......just answering it ???? Is the manufacture/supplier still around ??

You have already gone your own way once
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 2&start=15

You asked advice.....2 points of view were given....you now make your mind up but ... no need to rubbish the answer you were given that you didn't want to hear.....

Whichever way you look at it...changing 14 hoses (28 joints) is risky......your not going to get 28 perfect seals stright off.....and with "standard" Jub clips....no chance.

I think you will find I have the only NORMA clamps in the U.K.....even Maclaran have had them off me. You can get them from Oz but unless you buy bulk they work out very expensive due to shipping costs.

Wow seriously need to chill out i wasnt rubbishing anything at all i just understand what the guys saying, i havent fitted anything yet and will take careful consideration before i do so.

can we all just take a deep breathe :) i will probably end up changing 1 or 2 suspect ones behind the alternator and the bleed hose but the rest seem ok for now.

Haydn you really take things as an insult sometimes when theirs no need im not trying to waste any ones time nor am i trying to offend anyone over some hoses just wanted more than one opinion.

Thank you everyone for your opinions i will change whats needed, not all 14.

the ones i really needed to change were drivers side (over head) hose ithink - it's the one nearest the peddels coming from cylinder head starting to egg and easily missed, heater matrix rear hose (leaking) , bottom hose metal pipe leading to under drivers seat had hole in it (fixed with liquid metal type stuff) only noticed it when pipe was off, and one on top radiator going diagonal right as you look from bumper looked a bit ragged

hope tha'ts clear

rest looked pretty good.
If you use jubilee clips (i did where i had to) blue ones bigger. Tighten them when it;s been really cold (frost)to get a good fit

Hadyn, what probs did people have with blue hoses? bit leaky? could you perhaps use a bit of silicon sealant on the metal to bong a fit (would come off if pulled hard enough) don't think the acetic acid would cause too much of a prob??

just voicing a possible solution :D
