2.0 petrol

Does anyone know whose 2.0 power plant is in the bongo and how good is the MPG ?

Mazda's own...in todays world where engine efficiency is paramount and the limitations of the bongo, = lack of power + poor fuel consumption (27mph ) if you keep your right foot light!
sorry, I've got a very good example but I wouldn't buy another one.

I believe it is a Mazda engine - see

Fuel consumption is not spectacular, as it has to work so hard in a Bongo - similar to the 2.5 diesel engine, but it does depend very much on how you drive it.

Ive had 2 x 2.5 deisels,went for a low mileage 2ltr petrol this time.......never again.
Nice drive,very quiet,but total lack of power,wouldnt pull a pint,and regularly gives 18-19 mpg running round . Just got my best mpg on weeks camping from home to Allithwaite,then to Chipping then back home.
Mostly m/way driving and A roads...........26 mpg.same rouite on my previous deisels wouldve returned around 30-33 MPG
And Im very light right footed and dont drive above 65mph on mways

Well, we've had our 2.0l for about 9 months now and averaged 26.9mpg (ranging from 24.6 - 29.8mpg)
We wanted a newer vehicle, so the diesel was out.
That left a V6 or the 2.0l.
No, the 2.0l won't win any races, but what's the rush?? It's gone up every hill we've thrown at it.
The more I get to know the gearbox and hold button, the better it copes too.

+1 for sdsk post. We have had our 2L for three and a half years and don't regret the choice. I would agree with the mileage ranging from 25 to 30mpg. I find if you keep the revs below 3000 its far more economic, and on the motorway that has ours sitting around 70mph. We don't tow, but the van manages to cope fine when fully loaded with all our camping gear and four people etc for a weeks break. I would suggest a good long test drive of all three engine types would be in order before you decide for yourself

Ditto SDSK and dunslair, thanks to both of you, i thought i was going daft, (well, dafter than i am) i keep getting told " you won't get more than 18 to 22mpg " and i know i'm getting between 23 and 28mpg. thats settled it ,
I AM NOT AS DAFT AS SOME WOULD SAY I AM.

I tend to use the same place for my LPG .. earlier this year it was 0.66p a litre .. it is now 0.71p ..

It was 'only' 0.60p a litre before it shot up to 0.66p ..!!
I think the avaricious gas companies link it to the retail price of petrol regardless if they can sell it for less ..

We have a Sainsburys and a Shell next to each other. She'll is always a penny per litre more.....cheapest at the moment is 76.9ppl.........effin robbers!
Still it beats 60l of petrol coming at around £100......
