What do the L & S settings mean? Im pretty sure its got something to do with diffs but am not sure

Nothing to do with diffs.....just holds the auto box in lower gears,,,,most peeps don't use them and stick to D which will suit most needs....the Hold button on the gear shift can be useful on verr steep hills but again D will do almost all of the time
