AutoGearshift S&L Hold. DONT DELETE

Apologies if this is a dumb question. This 1995 Bongo is my first automatic and I'm curious about the S and L options on the gearshift. The auto drivers that I've asked haven't got a clue what they could be. The manual doesn't mention them. I wondered if they were alternative gearing ratios for say short/stopping traffic (S) and long distance motorway driving (L). I'm reluctant to try them and see - just in case one is the ejector seat or the wheels fall off.....

Dont use them on the motorway or your wheels might fall off :lol:

L= 1st gear

S= 2nd gear.

Cheers.

PS the number of the particular gear should be marked also.ie 1 2 3.

What manual do you have as the handbook gives quite in depth info on the automatic transmission functions ..??

@Rita. Thanks for the info - slightly anticlimactic. Alternative ratios would have been useful, and an ejector seat would have been fun :)

The NZ translated workshop manual which seems fairly comprehensive, but seems to leave out the basic owners handbook stuff.
