Bongo Fury

Here I was about to buy a new 110Ah Platinum LB when I thought, 'hmmm, I should probably measure the LB tray I have'...

So turns out it's not very big. From the photos can anyone tell me if this is the standard Mazda near side (2nd battery) tray ?

Existing Dimensions L/W/H
85Ah Leisure Battery: 250x170x210 (at back and 185 at front, the terminals are in a recess)
Tray looks to accommodate: 270x170x190ish

I'm hoping I can just unbolt this thing and pull it out. I've been reading that Willinton supplies a large tray that can take a 110, can anyone advise if that would bolt into this space once this ones out? I've got some tools but no workshop, tho if it's not too tricky I'm sure I can do it. I don't think I can make my own tray and bracket.

Great news, I'm assuming this little guy needs to be ripped out then

That tray is an after market one .. similar to the one the converter fitted to mine ...



The simplest solution is a fibre glass Willinton version which is a simple fit to fit a 110ah battery ..

As I could not obtain a Willinton tray at the time I utilised a normal drivers side Mazda tray (exactly the same as the northern spec. second battery trayed Bongo) but I had to make a couple of 'Z' shaped brackets .. but all in all a simple and cheap alternative ..

Is there any difference aside from sizing and which one is the best fit for the Willinton tray, as they all slightly breach it?! (345x175x235)

Sd 6110L is mine....

When I did mine I found it was not the length or width that caused any problems

But as the battery as to fit under the drain channel up to the relays / inner wing, on my tray the maximum case hight that would fit (ie: excluding the lifting handles) .... was quite critical @ 9" ..

My 'normal' 110ah leisure battery is (about) 14" long x 7" wide x 9" high..

From This brochure you will see the SD6100L which I have and it has a centre mounted single handle..... my previous LB was like the twin handled one.

and according to the pdf the SD6110L is a 328x172x214 so within the Willinton spec

Its also a dual terminal post, does that make any difference?

For the sake of a completed thread, I just fitted the platinum SD6110L leisure battery in the willinton battery tray without any issues. There was a bit of room to spare as well. Thanks for everyone's help.

can anyone tell me what the little red plugs are at the top /side of the battery... do I need to remove these?

Probably covering vent pipes in the event the batteries are allowed to gas during charging, as its a sealed job there are no caps with vents in them to release the pressure. If its not clearly marked to remove then I would leave them in place.

Hmm, I think there may have been a slip of paper in the package showing how to remove them.... I think I will remove them
