Hi folks,

I've been reading the posts about veg oil for a while.
I notice people mention that using it cleans the engine.
My bongo is going in for a full service on Thursday. Should
I put some veg oil in for the next two days to clean the engine
Knowing I'll get a new filter on Friday? Then go back to diesel?

Thanks.

Hi
It's a personal thing, but I don't like veg. oil...no problem to use it, but I stick to diesel.
Regarding your thoughts, I use Redex Diesel to clean it out, and it runs a treat afterwards. You may have reservations, as some additives used as injector cleaners use micro abrasive particles to clean the injectors, which eventually damage the nozzle if used frequently, but not Redex, as I wrote to the Company about 8 years back and got a positive no from their technical department that they don't include abrasives....whether the formulation has changed in the meantime, I doubt it, as it has always worked well without.
Let us know whether it does what you want if you use it!!
Cheers
Helen

Aren't you thinking about the MOT, where veg oil in the fuel lowers exhaust emissions, helping to ensure the Bongo passes the emission test. Not sure there is any other lasting benefit, apart from cash savings.
