13 amp plug to ip44 socket query

Post by clutha » Sat Nov 10, 2012 1:08 pm

Are these needed for some camp site hook ups?

What else are they used for apart from running power from home/garage into van?

No - just to plug in at home.

Might be handy sometime.
We stayed at a farm site last year and all the hookups were gone but he plugged us into a 13a socket in his kitchen.

Up till now all that I have used one of these plugs for is to cool down the fridge overnight before going off to a meet with the fridge loaded with food.

Next year we hope to go round Ireland if we replace the Bongo with a motorhome in time. I think that it will be a good idea to take this plug with us if we park up on someones drive using Safe Nights Ireland. http://www.safenightsireland.com/

If you have a power management system in your van, these plus hookup lead, come in very handy for charging flat leisure and van batteries

With a continental adaptor thet wouldalso be useful on the many European sites that don't have Commando style sockets. I have one with a French Domestic plug on and a Shuko Adaptor which covers all three socket types I have found abroad so far.

For the small cost I keep one in the Bongo in case I need to plug into 13 amps, could get you out of a spot.
