Bongo Fury

Hi all,

I have just put a deposit down on a new (to me) 2 wheel drive 2.5td bongo.

I'm picking it up on Saturday and am ready to jump in with both feet...

But before I start chucking litres of veggie oil in the tank, I'd quite like a bit of a heads up on potential problems and the ease of fixing them.

I've had a good look around this forum and understand that seals in the fuel filters are a particularly common issue, are there any less common issues any one can think of?

Well I have been using oil for 9 years (started the whole thing off I suppose) and only last year got around to changing the fuel filter,lol, shocking I know..and I only did it then because the new one came as part of the kit. Old one was still perfectly clean and didnt really need changing. I only use fresh new oil and have never had a problem, I think others have so you will prob get more replies.
Remember golden rule ( for me anyway), oil in first then top with diesel, action of fuel pump ensures good even mixing. Any info wanted just ask.

I think one of the first things I'll be doing is having a really good look at the engine to work out where everything is!

In theory, veg oil cleans out the fuel system, so you may have to change your fuel filter after a few hundred miles - doesn't seem to happen very often though

carry a spare filter,

dont go tooooooo mad on the mix ratio in cold months.

change engine oil every 5000 miles!!!
