Flattening the upstairs bed in a aftermarket pop top

I've just looked at a nice Bongo with a pop-top roof fitted by Wheelquick. It has removable boards to make the floor and a fixed bit at the head end (the vehicle roof?) above the driver and passengers seat. There is a huge 5 cm-ish difference in height between the boards and the fixed part which looks like it would be mid-upper arm position when lying down which is a bit of a shame.

Has anyone found a good solution to overcome this issue?

Knowing Wheelquick,I assume you mean a fixed high top,not a pop top ( elavating roof )

No, it is a pop top. Very similar to this one.
