Does anyone have the ability to convert my front seat to a swivel type using Dave Aberdeen's instructions? I have asked Dave if he could do one for me a few times over the last couple of years but he cannot help.

Hi all,
Just a heads up that these guys are now offering a front swivel seat:

No idea on insurance implication.

He reckons he has taken a conversion to several MOT testing stations and they say they are no MOT issues with the swiveling front seat ..
Dunno if there are any other implications ..

If its the one I saw at the Bongo Bash, its a solid job, at a good price, and you post them your seat squab and they post it (or a similar one - you might want to check on that in case of quality issues if yours is smarter than the replacement) back once modified. Price is reasonable too I think (around £220 posted?).

Yup were having it done, at worst the insurance company might ask for a Vehicle Inspectors report which I think is around the £50-100 mark last time I heard, but it doesn't seem to involve either the seat belt or seat mountings so we will see what they say, keep meaning to chase the wife up to ask them in advance!

Just checked with the insurance company (via C&CC) and " ...provided it has been done professionally then no problems." so I don't see a problem either!

Only slight problem is that I had a cracking set of tailored Cordura seat covers made a while ago and the method of attaching them to the seat base may have to be altered so as not to impede the swivel mechanism
Also, checked, and the job is not done on an exchange basis He will be sending my own (altered) seat base back to me which is just as well as I still have the matching back section!

Just had this done by New Dawn and it is a cracking job, nice bit of engineering and an ingenious solution. Den at New Dawn is a really nice guy and the service is excellent. It has made a huge difference - much more comfortable than the footrest seat, and it opens up more space in the Bongo as well. Given the time and effort it must have taken to get this right I think the price is very fair too.

Wotcha.
They are only five minutes from me too - I like the idea of a swivel passenger seat.

Hi folks.
New Dawn is advertising a swivel driver's seat as well.
Has anyone had the driver's seat done? I wonder how they avoid hitting the steering wheel?
Cheers from Leon
