My horn is out (no jokes please)

Its not the wiring in the wheel but despite searching on the forum I have not yet found where the bleeding relays are!

In the same vein; I am guessing that there are relay for the electric windows up and down; where are these too!

From other vaguely remmbered posts I think they are on the NS Inner wing under the bonnet

There doesn't seem to be a relay for the power windows.....!





What is your window problem??

well drivers side switch u/s apart from isolating passenger side. I think it could be a broken wire as there is no 12V at any position on the wires; on the drivers side what colour wire should be bringing 12V up??

need the horn for the MOT so need to find that relay

The Horn relay is F3-03 BUT check your model and year diagrams below for 1997-1999 models;

Hi mine is a 1995; is this the bank of six relays at the front in front of the battery tray>??

If its a 1995 then go to the start of the site http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm , select the correct year and click Horn on the Contents page, that will show the circuit note the relay code, next page along will show the locations look for the code and you will see its location - look carefully sometimes there is more than one possible location.

Fab! That is great. Looks like the bank of six relays on the front beneath the battery; seen these and thought they might be them; am expecting it to be the relay as have a small 2V continuous at the horn; all the rest seem to be OK in terms of the switching on the wheel etc and the earth is really good

do these just pull out or is there a cunning Japanese gizmo to secure; sorry for all the questions

Those on the offside are socketed so just pull, those on the nearside are plugged in direct from the wires after removing the rubber covers.
Your window switch testing needs are also covered from the on-line diagrams, at the bottom of each page are the connectors showing which pins are used as well as the colour codes - do read the help there are several other things which might not be obvious, but anything coloured is basically a link!

I would hazard a guess you have a broken wire in the door loom between the door & the body..? The thicker wire out the bunch, red & black?? I think.. The thicker black one is the earth for the window... They can either go where the V bends to the door hinge or under the sheath on the oval grommet in the actual wing where the loom goes through to the drivers foot well?

that sounds like it! Got a good earth on pin two but nothing on 3 (which is red black)

When it stops raining I will chase it back to the hinge (Or is it easier to run a fresh 12 V supply on 27A cable??)

Probably easier to find & repair the break than run new right through to the switch..?

The V bend causes more long term problems than it solves in my opinion..

Here is what i did to mine after a repair & running some extra loom in for the remote CL & window closure mod on locking...



It's just half the V with the slack taken up inside the wing panel...

great; I have weds off and some spats to fit! So I will have a look at a repair then; also like the re-inforcement you have on the outside there; looks great

I have factory CL; the auto close on lock mod sounds interesting! Have that on my Rover!
