Waeco MS 50 cruise control fitment - HELP!

Hi all.
I bought a Waeco MS 50 cruise control for my Bongo and it won't operate when the van is rolling!
This is the email I sent to Conrad UK this morning -
"After fitting the cruise control to my Mazda Bongo 2.5 TD (1996) the control unit will not read the signal from the speedometer when the vehicle is moving and therefore will not operate. The vehicle speedometer is as fitted as standard, (KPH) with an MPH face and has not been rechipped. The speedometer is operating normally.
The static test is working, the control unit will increase and decrease engine rpm using the set/on-off/reset buttons as per the instruction manual indicating that the throttle/vacuum connections are working as required.
The propshaft sensor was fitted but would also not operate, due to the amount of movement and flex in the supplied bracket and the lackof secure connection of the magnet to the propshaft with the parts supplied.
The auto electrician who carried out the installation is at a loss as to the way forward from here, all the wiring and vacuum connections are good, the problem is that the signal from the speedometer is not being read by the control unit.
Could you please advise as to a solution? If I need to buy additional parts to complete the install then I will do so. at this point in time I have purchased this item and it will not work.
Many thanks in advance."
This is the only complaint I have with the Bongo, that it has no cruise control fitted as standard so I decided to buy the Waeco to make long distance driving easier.
The auto electrician who did the installation does all the work for one of the importers so is well aware of the quirks of Bongo electrics. We tried all the alternatives in the instruction manual i.e sensitivity settings, snipping the black wire on the control box as per the manual but all to no avail. We are not sure of the solution, any advice will be welcome.
TIA.
Mick.
