Bongo Fury

Hi I have a V6 Petrol, I have just checked the voltage at the Lambda sensor - does anyone know if this sounds about right;

Tick over 0.35 volts
Accelerating 0.68
back to tick over - Drops back to 0.35 but takes about 60 seconds to get back down.

I had a problem with a poor connection at the plug but this seems to be OK now.

I'd like to get a few more mpg (wouldn't we all) and don't know where else to look I've fitted new leads and plugs.

its about 19 mpg on LPG gas and a bit more on petrol but I nearly alway run on gas.

Some people quote higher figures but I don't know if they are being optimistic I drive 17 miles to and from work with a light right foot in rural bedfordshire and don't get stuck in traffic.

Perhaps I'm not being realistic looking for better than 20 mpg but it would be good!

Oh I forgot it has a side conversion so isn't travelling light.

That MPG is about what we get;




Long runs on the motorways 22-24mpg, around town sub-20mpg, we too have a full side conversion and rarely travel that light!

Mine is a side conversion always two of us .. two dogs .. and general clutter.. plus my A/C is generally permanently on both in winter and summer ..

I tend to drive as an auto .. but do make full use of manual / Hold when I feel the need for the extra acceleration / performance of the superb V6 engine ..

I keep meaning to check the MPG on LPG but never have .. but I am always pleased with the ££ss of LPG I put in .. compared to the amount of running around I do ..

I must say that the biggest improvement I have made to mine is fitting new plugs .. leads .. rotor and cap .. the improvement to the running of the engine was remarkable ..

Any ideas what the Lambda should read I think 1 Volt is the max with loads of Oxygen so 0.35v sounds OK to me but I really have no idea if it's in range.

The manual states;
O2 Sensor
Warm engine,
Disconnect the o2 sensor connector,
then,
When idling 0~1.0 Volts
When accelerating 0~0.5 Volts
when decelerating 0.5~1.0 Volts

Once its warmed up it should continuously switch between around 0.3V and 0.9V.
